Tell me more about your cancellation policy.

At Opulent Curtains, each of our pieces is meticulously handcrafted to meet your specific requirements. As such, once your order has been accepted and placed into production, it cannot be cancelled. We understand, however, that circumstances can change. Should you wish to amend or cancel your order prior to dispatch, we encourage you to contact us as swiftly as possible. In some cases, we may be able to pause production. If so, a partial refund may be offered—less any costs already incurred during the tailoring and preparation of your bespoke curtains. While we will make every effort to accommodate your request, this cannot be guaranteed.

How do I measure my windows correctly?

For curtains, to measure correctly, measure the part which you want the curtains or blinds to cover. For example, you may choose to measure from side to side (wall to wall), or from ceiling to floor. If you want the curtain to cover just the window, measure above the window frame or as close to the ceiling as possible for a taller, elegant look. Also provide a measurement in excess of around 30-50cm on each side of the window. Check out how to measure curtains correctly for more details. For roller blind, for a reveal fit, measure from side to side and top to bottom inside the window frame

What types of fabrics and materials do you offer?

We have a range of sheer, lightfiltering and blockout fabrics for you to select. If you can’t find what you need online, and you’re not in Sydney, please contact to let us know the fabric you’re seeking and we can source it for you. The main fabrics we offer are from brands such as NETTEX, WARWICK, JAMES DUNLOP, MAURICE KAIN and some of our exclusive range.

3

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes, we offer a FREE measure and quote within the Sydney Metropolitan area for customers using our supply and professional installation service.
For DIY online orders, we don’t provide a free site measure. Prices for DIY products can be calculated online, but please note that these prices cover supply only and do not include installation.

How long do I expect for the order to be process?

All our curtains and blinds are made to measure, so please allow about 2-3 weeks for us to order your fabric and create your custom pieces. The exact time may vary depending on fabric availability, but we’ll keep you informed of any delays. As soon as we complete your order, we’ll ship it immediately. Please allow about one week for delivery to your destination. Read more on Shipping, Returns & Warranty.

What hem options are available for your curtains?

All blockout curtains come with 7cm sewn hem. Most sheer curtains come with weighted hem, except for those with extra long drop. If you want your sheer curtains to have sewn hem, please speak to us but this will incur extra fee.

What level of darkness can I expect from blockout curtains?

Blockout curtains significantly reduce light, so you can expect your room to be quite dark. While they don’t always create complete blackout in every situation, they do minimise most external light and are ideal for bedrooms, media rooms, or anyone wanting a darker space.

What clearance space do I need for an S-fold curtain?

The clearance space required will depend on the type of curtain heading you choose: S-Fold (single layer): Approximately 14 cm from the wall to front. S-Fold (double layer): Around 28–30 cm from the wall to front. Pinch Pleat (single layer): Approximately 7–8 cm from the wall to front. Double layer (1 Pinch Pleat + 1 S-Fold): About 23 cm clearance. These measurements ensure the curtains have enough space to hang neatly, move smoothly, and maintain their proper shape.

What is a lightfiltering fabric?

A light-filtering fabric allows natural light to gently pass through while reducing glare. It sits between a sheer and a blockout fabric—not as transparent as a sheer, but not as heavy or dark as a blockout. Light-filtering fabrics provide more privacy than sheers while still keeping your room bright and softly illuminated.

How much do sheer curtains cost?

Sheer curtain prices depend on the fabric, size, and curtain drop. Larger windows or longer drops may require more fabric, which can increase the cost. We offer everything from budget-friendly to luxurious fabrics, and we can provide a personalised quote once we know your measurements and fabric choice.

Can my curtains be machine washed?

Machine washing is not recommended, as it can cause the curtain fabric and the buckram (the stiff heading tape) to distort or lose their shape. This can affect how the curtains hang and may lead to permanent damage. For best results, we recommend hand wash in the bath tub or simply vacuum and spot clean your curtains. Alternatively, you can engage in a professional curtain cleaning service in your local area.
